Hi! Welcome to our class website. Here I will post the most important information that you need to know
Gym and Learning Commons Info:
Our class is scheduled to go to the gym every Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child has a pair of shoes that they can run in (rubber soled). Because gym class is at the end of the day on both days and the children will be leaving for home directly from the school building, the children will put their indoor shoes in their schoolbags and bring them home. This saves us from having to bring all of the shoes back to the portable after gym class. Please ensure that your child brings his/her indoor shoes back to school the next day. Thank in advance!
We will go to the Learning Commons every Wednesday morning. Our first Learning Commons visit is this coming Wednesday. We will find out more information about book returns then. Thank you for your patience!
A Little Bit About Me:
My name is Julie Nihmey. This is my second year at St. Anne. I had a great year last year teaching Grade 3 and I am looking forward to another great year this year! I grew up in Ottawa. I attended Holy Family Catholic School from JK to Grade 6 and St. Patrick High School from Grade 7 to 13. I did my undergraduate at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia where I graduated with an Advanced Major in Psychology. I completed my Teachers College in the East Coast as well. I taught Grade 3 for two and a half years in Mexico and have taught all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 6 here in Ottawa, with the exception of Grade 5.
To the right is our class Twitter feed where I will post pictures of some of the activities that are taking place in the classroom and at school. I will occasionally post pictures and information on the Blog page of this website as well. Please check out all of the pages on this website daily, especially the homepage!
Here are a few reminders to begin the school year with:
Don't forget to send a lunch to school with your child everyday! Your child's lunch should include at least 3 snacks. I encourage healthy snacks, especially for the morning. Some ideas for snacks are: cheese and crackers, fruit, yogurt, veggies and dip and applesauce. I ask that the children save their sweet treats as a dessert after lunch or for their afternoon snack. Please make sure all lunches are nut free as we do have children with life-threatening allergies to nuts.
Don't forget to send in a pair of indoor shoes as well as outdoor shoes for your child everyday. Their indoor shoes should be shoes that they can run in, as they will wear these when we go to the gym.
Looking forward to meeting you all this coming Thursday at Meet the Teacher Night from 5-7pm.
